Ashford councillor quits! ULEZ to be key issue at by-election

A Green Party councillor who was elected in May has resigned after only two months, meaning a by-election will be needed in Ashford Town ward at a cost to the taxpayer of £20,000 – a disgraceful waste of public money!

The election for a new councillor will be on Wednesday 6 September. It will be an opportunity for Ashford residents to have a
say on Labour Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s disastrous extension of his Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to our border.

From 29 August, Spelthorne residents with an older diesel or petrol car could be forced to pay Mayor Khan £12.50 per day to drive into Greater London. ULEZ hurts small businesses and punishes the least well off who cannot afford a new car during a cost of living crisis.

Your vote for the Conservative candidate at this election can send a strong message to the Labour leadership to think again.

And you can elect a second Conservative councillor to work alongside recently re-elected Conservative councillor Olivia Rybinski who has a reputation for getting stuck into local issues in Ashford Town.
