Elected as Mayor of Spelthorne 21st May 2015

A youthful 50, Mark – a life-long Conservative is a family man with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. A self-employment electrician “Dr Sparky” Mark’s family have lived in Staines-upon-Thames since 1879. 

First elected in May 2011, Mark currently serves as Deputy Mayor of Spelthorne which although extremely time consuming he regards the work as an honour and a pleasure. 

Mark has served on the overview and scrutiny, planning, licencing and Staines-upon-Thames economic development committees. Mark is a member and supporter of Spelthorne Business Forum. 

Mark lives in the ward, is actively involved in Staines-upon-Thames economic development and advises constituents on numerous issues on a regular basis. 

Mark believes passionately that economic development is the key to the town’s future, he has assisted business by attending open events and through the Staines-upon-Thames economic development committee has been instrumental in persuading the Council and its business partners to take steps to revitalise the High Street and its environs. The results will be seen as the year progresses. 

He worked long hours alongside Council workers and volunteers coordinating efforts for flood relief in 2014

Very merry Meals on Wheels

Councillors and London Irish donate gifts for Meals on Wheels customers

Spelthorne Borough Council has been working with local councillors and London Irish Rugby Club to give the Borough's Meals on Wheels customers some thoughtful treats this Christmas.

Cllr Maureen Attewell and thirteen fellow councillors* have joined together to donate £2050 from their Better Neighbourhood Grants to fund a selection of gifts which will be given to Meals on Wheels customers in the run up to Christmas and on Christmas Day itself.
