The Mayor of Spelthorne hosted a civic reception for members of the business community
The Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Vivienne Leighton, hosted a civic reception for members of the business community on Wednesday 29 November.
Hosted at St James Senior Boys' School, the event is held every year to celebrate the success of Spelthorne businesses and give attendees the opportunity to network with other local companies.
The guest speaker for the evening was Sir Peter Bonfield CBE, Chairman of NXP Conductors, who gave a talk about the impact technology may have in the future.
Speaking after the event, the Mayor said: "A thriving business community is absolutely critical to the success and vibrancy of the borough. To raise the profile of the meeting, I chose a different venue for this year's event. I feel very fortunate that such a prominent speaker was willing to share his life-long experience and I am very grateful to Sir Peter for his fascinating insight into the ever-changing world of IT."
Michael Ramlakhan, Founder of Timeless IT Business, said: "The evening was a great success with a great speaker and a considerable amount of business networking. The Mayor has truly raised the bar for future business reception events."
Andrew Hayward, Owner and Head Brewer of Thames Side Brewery, said: We thoroughly enjoyed the evening; an interesting talk from an eminent man in his field, followed by a very good opportunity for networking afterwards. Hopefully those discussions will lead to increased business opportunities as we are very interested in developing more local outlets."
