Update on night lighting in Spelthorne

Street lighting is the responsibility of the County Council. In October 2016 the County Council's Cabinet approved a decision to implement part-night lighting across Surrey. This was rolled out in Spelthorne in March 2017.

Spelthorne Conservatives have won 6 of the 7 local seats on Surrey County Council - only losing Stanwell to Labour. They also won the by-election for a seat on Spelthorne Borough Council

Street lights in Spelthorne; recently switched off between midnight and 5am as a cost saving measure by Surrey County Council will now be switched back on!  Cllr Ian Harvey Conservative Leader of Spelthorne Council brokered the deal with Cllr David Hodge, Conservative Leader of Surrey CC.

Politically motivated violence reaches Spelthorne

Cllr Ian Harvey, Leader of Spelthorne Borough council reports that “on Saturday 25th February Cllr Colin Davis, a senior member of the Conservative Group on Spelthorne Council, was the victim of an unprovoked assault whilst having a lunchtime drink with friends in Staines. The incident was witnessed by others and - importantly - captured on CCTV.”
